ReferenceBase entries are produced by the site's editorial team. This page describes how entries are researched, written, and maintained.
Research and writing
Entries are researched and drafted from published sources assembled for each subject. Drafting is assisted by AI tools; every entry is reviewed in-house by a professional ReferenceBase editor against the site's editorial standards before publication, and every claim is checked against its citation.
Editorial independence
ReferenceBase publishes entries at its own editorial initiative and upon request. The editorial process is the same in either case. Subjects are not given final say over entries and cannot require changes to published content. Input from a subject, whether before or after publication, is weighed against published sources rather than accepted at face value.
Commissioned entries
Entries may be commissioned by their subjects for a fee or published at the editorial team's own initiative. Commissioned status is noted on an entry's talk page. All entries are produced by the same process and held to the same editorial standards, whether commissioned or not.
Updates and revision history
Every change to an entry is recorded in its public page history. Entries are updated as new published sourcing emerges.
Corrections and responses
Registered users may submit comments and corrections on any entry's talk page. Corrections, responses from subjects, and contact routes are described at ReferenceBase:Corrections and contact.
